😭 Men, Are You Feeling Lonely or Alone In 2026?

This is more of an impromptu conversation about something important — loneliness in men.

I’m curious: do you feel lonely, either throughout the day or week? Has this increased in the past few years?

    Why This Matters

Suicide in men is three times higher than in women, and loneliness may be one of the leading causes.

With the rise of the internet and smartphones, men are becoming more isolated — even though we’re more “connected” digitally.

    How the Internet Changed Connection

Even as far back as 1997, early research showed the internet was increasing feelings of isolation.

Fast forward to today, and people are more disconnected than ever.

Social interaction at gyms or with friends is being replaced by digital content creation and scrolling alone.

    The Value of Male Bonding

Some of the happiest times in life come from simple moments with close friends.

Even ultra-wealthy people like Dan Bilzerian have stated that their most fulfilling times were just hanging out with buddies, not the yachts or in luxury.

Why It’s Harder for Men to Connect

As men get older, friends move away, start families, or simply fade out of their lives.

Unlike women, men often struggle to make new connections.

Even asking another man to lunch can feel strange or uncomfortable — and that contributes to deeper isolation.

    The Emotional Pressure on Men

Men often avoid opening up because of fear of judgment or appearing weak.

    This adds to emotional pressure.

I’ve known men who took their own lives — one of them being extremely close to me. It’s heartbreaking and often tied to this lack of emotional outlet.

    Changing Social Behavior

Today, everyone wears headphones, avoids eye contact, and focuses on themselves.

Even in social spaces like gyms, it’s rare to see real conversations.

Most young men are also experiencing record-low sexual activity, largely due to a lack of social skills and confidence built through real-world interactions.

    Why Communication Matters

Constant texting instead of calling or meeting people in person has lowered emotional intelligence (EQ).

Men especially need group interaction — we’re wired for social bonding through shared activity. But many of us now feel awkward just talking to someone face to face.

    Getting Older & Growing Apart

As we age, many friendships drift due to time, distance, money, jealousy, or betrayal.

Even working from home reduces the opportunity for organic social interactions. Many people feel alone, even in a room full of others — and this is common for introverts too.

    So, What Can You Do?

    Let’s have an honest conversation.

Do you feel lonely? When do you feel the most alone?

How do you deal with it? Share your experiences.

Whether it’s around money, friendships, women, or just a general feeling of not being good enough, you’re not alone.

    Final Thoughts

Maybe in the future, more men will open up — even if it’s to something like ChatGPT.

It’s not a replacement for human connection, but it’s better than nothing.

If you’ve been struggling with feelings of loneliness, anxiety, insecurity, or thoughts of hopelessness — talk to someone. You matter.
