🥱 Men & Sleep: Dangerous Myth Killing Your Manhood In 2026

Today it’s 2026 and I want to talk about the myth that men don’t need much sleep—you know, the idea that “you can sleep when you’re dead” or that only weak guys need a full night’s rest.

I used to believe this myself. Growing up, I worked long hours, went to school, and barely slept. In medical school, it was almost a badge of honor to brag about how little sleep we got.

Guys would say, “Man, I only slept four hours,” or even, “I didn’t sleep at all last night!”

But now, in my 50s, I realize how wrong that mindset was—especially for men.

Why Sleep Is Essential for Men

Sleep isn’t just about resting. It’s when your body produces key hormones like testosterone and reduces stress hormones like cortisol.

Poor sleep can have a major impact on testosterone levels.

    sleep and testosterone levels

Just a couple of nights of inadequate rest can cause testosterone to drop by 20%–50%.

That’s why men often wake up with morning erections—it’s a sign of a healthy testosterone peak. This is also why libido and performance tend to be better during the day rather than at night.

If you’re not prioritizing sleep, your testosterone will never be at its best. No supplement, workout, or diet can fully make up for the negative effects of chronic sleep deprivation.

Your Testosterone Won’t Improve Without Good Sleep

I’ve talked about testosterone boosters like AlphaViril before, and while they help, they won’t work if you’re not sleeping well.

It’s like going to the gym and eating junk food—you’re sabotaging your progress.

Most guys aren’t sleeping well, and they don’t even realize it. Here are some of the biggest mistakes that hurt testosterone and overall health:

    • Late-night phone use – Blue light disrupts melatonin production and delays sleep.
    • Going to bed too late – Deep, restorative sleep happens earlier in the night.
    • Not allowing enough time in bed – If you want 7 hours of sleep, you need at least 8 hours in bed.
    • Too much caffeine – Stimulants can affect sleep quality, even if taken earlier in the day.
    • Late-night workouts – Exercising too late keeps the nervous system overactive, making it harder to relax.

Do Men Need Less Sleep Than Women?

It’s true that most men need less sleep than women. Every girlfriend I’ve had could sleep 9–10 hours, while I personally need about 6–7 hours.

However, I used to push myself on just 5 hours a night, and even though I “functioned,” I was sluggish and unfocused.

    lack of sleep

When you’re young, you might get away with little sleep, but as you get older, it wrecks your hormones, energy, and focus.

Make Sleep a Priority for Better Health, Hormones, and Sex Drive

    If you want:

    • Higher testosterone
