In the video below, I summarize the pros and cons of Alpha Lipoic Acid… And how to best use it for maximum safety and effectiveness.
“So How Effective Is Alpha Lipoic Acid For Improving Blood Sugar & Glucose Levels?…”
Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a potent antioxidant and free radical scavenger2 that has been proven to regenerate vitamin C and vitamin E2; restore levels of intracellular glutathione, an important antioxidant that declines with age; and increase excretion of toxic heavy metals such as mercury.2
However, ALAs most interesting property may be its ability to counter diabetic symptoms and combat hyperglycemia (high blood sugar).1,3
There have literally been hundreds of studies concluding that ALA significantly improves insulin stimulated glucose uptake in patients with type II diabetes.1 Not only does it help lower blood sugar levels by reducing the secretion of insulin, it also increases insulin sensitivity at the cell level and thus, even LESS insulin is required.1,3,4
Warnings & Scams
There are TWO types of Alpha Lipoic. If you’re taking a typical alpha lipoic acid supplement, you’re likely only getting half the benefit of natural lipoic acid. The reason for this is that most alpha lipoic acid products on the market have both forms: the S form, and the R form.
R-lipoic acid is much more potent (2-3 times or more) than commonly sold alpha lipoic acid, which contains both the R and S forms. The S form is chemically the mirror image of the R form and cannot be used by the body, hence it is useless. Additionally, the typical ALA tends to cause acid reflux and heart burn in many users.
The BEST form is BioEnhanced Na-R-ALA, the sodium salt of R-Lipoic acid (RLA). Unlike pure RLA, BioEnhanced Na-R-ALA is a stabilized form of R-ALA that won’t degrade at high temperatures, is more bioavailable than regular RLA and has no solvent residues.
“So, What’s YOUR Best & Safest Solution?…”
I’ll be honest with you. No one single ingredient works at 100% effectiveness forever, let alone for every person. And that includes Alpha Lipoic Acid or any other single herb or nutrient.
Think about it. Just like you don’t eat only broccoli for best health, you don’t want to use only one herb or nutrient either.
The most effective and safest products use a combination of different nutrients and ingredients, at specific proven dosages, creating a special synergy which will help create healthy blood sugar & glucose levels, without serious negative side-effects.
Now, based on my research, the following ingredient have been scientifically shown to work, they’re effective and safe for both short and long-term usage:
- Combination of BOTH Chromium Piconlinate & Polynicotinate (ChromeMate®)
- Alpha Lipoic Acid (NA-R version is best)
- Cinnamon Extract (4:1 ratio)
- Bitter Melon
- Gymnema Sylvestre Extract (75% Gymnemic Acids)
- Bilberry Leaf Extract (25% Anthocyanosides)
- Fenugreek Extract
- Banaba Leaf Extract (1% corosolic acid)
Additionally, whatever product you select – make sure it has contains some essential vitamins and minerals, that are typically lacking and not being absorbed properly by individuals with glucose problems. The most important are:
- Magnesium (as Glycinate & Citrate)
- Vitamin C
- B-Vitamins (B1, B3, B5, B6 and B12)
- Zinc Picolinate
- Biotin (very important)
When the above ingredients are combined together in proper ratios, the “synergy” creates a much more effective solution, at a lower dose – WITHOUT your body adapting or having negative side-effects. That’s the secret!…

Fortunately, there’s “all-in-one” solution called Blood Sugar Optimizer™, which contains the above key ingredients, in specific extracted dosages — in addition to a couple other helpful ingredients.
The feedback has been amazing and since the product has been around for almost a decade, you know it works!
