☕ New Science About Caffeine & Erections For 2024

I recently did an article about how caffeine, energy drinks, and stimulants decrease testosterone levels and cause hormonal imbalances.

This led to a lot of different questions, but one that was repeated a couple of times was, “Does caffeine increase erections? Is it good for Erectile Dysfunction? I heard a study saying it is?

caffeine and erections

My first reaction and thought were, “no, it’s not! I clearly stated in the article why it’s not, how it’s bad for your hormones and thus, can lead to erectile dysfunction

However, I didn’t want to blindly dismiss the question. I obviously don’t know everything and I want to learn as much as possible.

As stated before, this website is for YOU and about YOUR needs. So, I dug deeper.

I then discovered one study1 in 2015, stating that men who drank about 170-375 milligrams (mg) of caffeine per day were less likely to report erectile dysfunction (ED) than those who didn’t. This is about 2-3 cups of coffee.

They wrote that the “suggested biological mechanism is that caffeine triggers a series of pharmacological effects that lead to the relaxation of the penile arteries and the cavernous smooth muscle that lines cavernosal spaces, thus increasing penile blood flow.2

In other words, arteries and smooth muscle relaxation, blood flow is enhanced, and the “cavernous” space in the penis that contributes to erection, fills with blood more easily.

Okay, this sounds like a nice theory.

The researchers ALSO noted, that they “weren’t able to find a connection between caffeine and increased blood flow”. Thus, all of this means nothing.

caffeine and blood flow

As with most clinical studies, there are always flaws and poorly set up.

I did look deeper into the “blood flow” theory and there are some studies showing improved blood flow to the brain because of caffeine. And yet later, other studies show the opposite effect, causing vasoconstriction and thus, poorer blood flow.3

So, any positives were later negated.

The bottom line is that none of this means anything.

As stated in my original article, stimulants like caffeine causes an increase in stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline/epinephrine levels, which will decrease testosterone and THIS will always cause a decrease in erections.

Not to mention, caffeine also increases anxiety, which decreases performance.

Your goal is that you always want to improve your hormones, that’s it!

Optimal hormone levels and balance is the BEST long-term, natural solution for improved health and erections.

It’s a simple concept, yet complicated to implement.

I’ve got two important links that you should check out today. One is to the original article for anyone who takes caffeine products such as coffee, energy drinks, pre-workout stimulants or similar products.

And another is a clinically researched solution that helps improve your hormones, and increases testosterone, leading to better erections and sex drive – physically and emotionally.
